How to play Sand Blocks

Fill the pits. Clear the board. The countdown is already running when the level appears.

The App Store text says “Pull the sand. Fill the pits. Clear the board.” It also says you pull the correct colored sand toward the matching pits. A public Level 1 video shows the other half of that motion: a blue pit starts at the bottom, sits under the blue sand two seconds later, and reads 100%. I treat the store line and the video as the same move described from two sides. The thing you drag on that clip is the pit.

The timer

On the Level 1 clip the clock reads 04:00 at the first frame and 03:58 four seconds later, before a second pit is finished. The timer does not wait for your first move. Later levels use shorter clocks. Level 395 opens at 01:40 and level 230 opens at 04:00, both read from the start of those videos on 31 Oct 2026. The checked store descriptions do not document a switch that turns the clock off.

Why it is not Tetris

Pits come as single cells, L shapes, T shapes, bars, and large rectangles. Filling one does not clear a whole row of mixed colors. Row clearing is the rule written on Voodoo’s Blast Puzzle page and on the Onki browser game. If a guide tells you to complete horizontal lines, it is describing one of those games.

What changes as levels grow

The iOS version history names Multiple Pits (0.3.5), Colored Tiles and a Leaderboard (0.3.3), boosters (0.2.1 and 0.2.2), and an End Game Tournament plus Sand Pass (0.3.2). Those are feature names from the store, not a rulebook. I do not expand them into steps the listing never gave. Early boards such as level 46, level 56, and level 62 are the clearest public examples of a short clock and a few large pits.

For a first attempt, identify every pit and its matching sand color before moving. Keep the route to a collector clear, watch its fill percentage, and use the numbered level guide when a lock or narrow passage changes the route. These are planning tips rather than a universal move sequence.

Level 1 shows the pit moving under the sand. The player loads only after you click, from YouTube.

Questions

How do you play Sand Blocks?

Move a colored pit under the matching sand so the sand fills it. The level ends when every pit is full, if the countdown is still running.

Is there a Sand Blocks mode without a timer?

The Rollic store text and the public level videos show countdown-based play. A no-timer mode is not described. Voodoo’s Sand Loop is the game that states it has no countdown.

Is Sand Blocks a Tetris game?

The pits use Tetris shapes. Clearing a full horizontal row is the rule of the other games that share the name, not this one.
